OVERVIEW:

The job is responsible for one of Florida's most prestigious private clubs, is seeking an accomplished and strategic Director of Finance to lead the financial operations within the Accounting Department.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in financial management, accounting, and strategic planning in a luxury hospitality or private club setting.

This executive-level role is responsible for overseeing all financial functions, ensuring fiscal responsibility, compliance, and supporting the club's long-term growth and stability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial Strategy & Leadership:
• Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the club's objectives and operational plans.
• Provide leadership and guidance to the Accounting Department, fostering a culture of accuracy, integrity, and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with senior management to develop annual budgets, financial forecasts, and long-term financial plans.

• Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts, providing regular reports and analysis to the executive team and Board of Directors.

Financial Operations & Oversight:
• Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, general ledger, and financial reporting.
• Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP or applicable standards.
• Maintain internal controls and ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate and oversee external audits, tax filings, and compliance reviews.

Budgeting & Cost Management:
• Lead the preparation and management of the annual operating budget, capital expenditure budgets, and special project budgets.
• Analyze financial data to identify areas for cost reduction, revenue enhancement, and operational efficiencies.
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making processes across departments.

Compliance & Risk Management:
• Ensure compliance with all legal, tax, and financial regulations applicable to private clubs and hospitality entities.
• Manage risk by developing and maintaining internal control systems to prevent fraud and financial misstatement.

• Oversee insurance programs, including liability and property coverage, to mitigate financial risk.


Financial Systems & Technology:
• Oversee the implementation and maintenance of financial software systems, ensuring they meet the needs of the organization.
• Stay current with technological advancements in accounting and financial management to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Team Leadership & Development:
• Lead, mentor, and develop the Finance and Accounting team, promoting professional growth and high performance.
• Conduct performance evaluations, establish goals, and foster a collaborative, accountable work environment.
• Coordinate training initiatives to ensure staff remain knowledgeable of best practices and regulatory changes.


Member & Stakeholder Relations:
• Provide financial insights and reports to the Board of Directors, Committees, and Senior Management.
• Support the membership sales and retention efforts through accurate financial modeling and analysis.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all financial dealings.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Directly supervise the finance and accounting team, including staff responsible for accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Assign tasks, monitor team performance, and provide ongoing coaching and feedback to ensure departmental goals are met.

• Conduct regular performance evaluations, establish development plans, and promote professional growth within the team.
• Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and training of finance department personnel.
• Enforce policies and procedures to ensure compliance with internal standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
• Foster a positive, collaborative work environment that promotes accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and TRAINING:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in financial management, ideally within private clubs, hospitality, or luxury resort environments.
• Proven leadership skills with experience managing a finance team.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting standards, and internal controls.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.


• Proficiency with financial management software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar systems) and advanced Excel skills.
• Exceptional communication skills, capable of presenting complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
• Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
